North American Air Regulations
Welcome to the Photo Marketing Association International (PMAI) air quality
database. While air quality has not traditionally been a concern for photoprocessors,
many imaging companies are turning to digital printing. These inks contain
solvents, making digital imaging operations subject to air quality regulations.
Many
of the solvents used in digital printing inks are volatile
organic compounds (VOCs), one of the critical elements that form ground-level
ozone. This form of ozone is the primary ingredient in smog. In order
to control the formation of smog, federal, state and local governments
regulate activities and materials that create ozone.
In order to provide you with the most up-to-date contact information
for air quality regulations, PMAI has developed this database of government
Internet websites.
